about me
Hi! Well you know my name. Below is a little about me.
I am a writer, trainer, producer and coach. I started work life with leaflet-dropping as a kid, then worked through various jobs until I got a Computing and Business degree. That led me to software development and process auditing within technology, financial and banking institutions.
I enjoyed coding because of the creative problem-solving aspect. I was able to recommend optimal strategies even as a newcomer. It was about the ideas. I worked in various consultancies and an investment bank before being selected for a graduate trainee scheme with a B2B 24/7 global news and financial information company.
After leading critical, high-stakes global technology projects, I headed a trading subsidiary's Global Projects Group through a transformation programme. I enjoyed work, especially the people, the coaching, mentoring and being mentored.
However, I also had a nagging feeling I ought to be doing something in the helping professions. Ultimately, when an opportunity arose for experimenting with alternative passions, I took it. I enjoyed writing, so travelled for field research and did a Creative Writing MA, starting a novel, Lifewalla, inspired by survivors of the world's worst industrial disaster.
My other writing includes a Penguin Decibel prize story, long-listings in international competitions and staged readings produced by theatre companies. I have also delivered a private biography for a HNWI Industrialist. Currently, I am writing a sitcom pilot and a collaborative novel.
Complementing a Masters level PgDip in Psychology, where my research project was on stress management and modalities, I trained in various helping courses, including co-active coaching, EFT, NLP, Theta, Emotrance, and Reiki. I applied my knowledge and experience to 1-2-1 coaching, talks and workshops with organisations. Currently, I am developing a series of e-courses.
My experience working with people ranges across corporate, freelance and voluntary work - including global leadership roles, curating and hosting local festival events, teaching in desert villages, co-ordinating earthquake rescue efforts, helpline listening and prisoner training. I gave stand-up comedy a go! Now I am sitting down.
As you browse, I hope you enjoy the radio interviews, comedy, panel shows, meditation recordings. Do send any feedback you have. I look forward to having a chat with you. - NJR
